George Remus was a German-born lawyer who was known as the King of the Bootleggers. During the Prohibition he defended many arrested bootleggers but his best client turned out to be himself. Although trained as a pharmacist who became a lawyer he found his success as a bootlegger as he found a loophole or two in the Volstead Act to craft Bourbon for “medical purposes”. His legend continues with George Remus Bourbons which are produced in Lawrencebourg Indiana just miles from where George ran his Prohibition empire. The Bourbons capture the rebellious Spirit and are intended for pleasure not only medicinal purposes. This expression is the Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon. With a proof of 115.9 it is not for the faint at heart. It is a big bourbon with a long finish. After some air and time it hits you in the face with great flavors and a gentle sweetness. The finish is spectacular and worth it. Their is plenty of vanilla dark cherry and oak on the palate. This single barrel is a gem and should be enjoyed by all but only 100 of this barrel are left in existence. Get your before they are all gone.
