Blackened X Willett Cask Strength is a delicious and mouth-warming straight rye whiskey finished in madeira wine casks. Wonderful and invigorating to sip on by itself! Rob Dietrich and Willett Distillerys own Master Distiller Drew Kulsveen teamed up to create their first whiskey release in the Blackened X Masters of Whiskey Series. The oldest whiskey in this blend features an age statement of 8 years while the average age of the bottling is 6 years. In the 14 weeks it finishes in the Madeira casks the whiskey undergoes the proprietary BLACK NOISE sonic enhancement process that uses the low hertz frequencies from Metallicas music to vibrate the barrels. This causes the liquid to move further into the barrel which extracts more flavor and color. On the nose is a sweet rhubarb and brown sugar tobacco vanilla and fig. The palate is warm with buttery caramel and a hint of earthy mint and a bit of raspberry from the Madeira casks. The high-rye lends a note of fresh cut hay before rolling into a finish of white pepper cinnamon butter and walnut finish.
