Uses EpiPen is used to treat Type 1 allergic reactions – including anaphylaxis. EpiPen is also used to increase blood pressure in patients who have hypotension due to septic shock and to dilate your eyes pupils during intraocular surgery. EpiPen is available in two strengths 0.3 mg/0.3ml for adult use and 0.15 mg/0.3ml for use in children. EpiPen is sold as a single unit-of-use and a 2-Pak unit-of-use. Cautions Injecting EpiPen may cause or worsen angina pectoris chest pain or cardiac arrhythmias – Epipen should be used with caution if you have either of these conditions. How to use The best site for injection of EpiPen is the middle portion of the side thigh the injector should be held in place for 2 to 10 seconds. The injector is effective if used through clothing if necessary. Possible side effects Irregular heartbeat excessive sweating pallor anxiety disorientation dizziness low or high blood sugar levels nausea/vomiting muscle weakness and shortness of breath may occur following EpiPen use.Consult your healthcare provider if you experience these or any other unusual symptoms.
