One side of the base is 1/4from the blade and the other is 3/8″. Mark from the 1/4side on both edges of 3/4stock and youve just laid out a perfectly centered mortise or tenon. Use the 3/8side to locate center of 3/4stock for joinery or hardware installation. The base wraps around your stock for a positive accurate reference. That wrap-around feature also lets you mark the face and edge at the same time. With a Delve Square in your pocket you always have set-up blocks of 1/8″ 1/4″ 1/2and 3/4at your fingertips. The blade is 1/8thick and 1/2wide. The base is 1/4thick and 3/4wide. Use whichever section you need for machinery set-up joinery lay-out or other referencing chores. Scales on the blade are engraved to an accuracy of 0.004total accumulated error. To make accurate layout even easier there are scribing guides milled every eighth-inch along the blade. Just drop the tip of your pencil in the right hole and slide the base along the edge of your stock for perfectly parallel lines at the precise measurement you choose. To lay out angles the hypotenuse is engraved at 5 increments plus 22-1/2 and 67-1/2. Need a hole centered on 3/4stock No problem theres a hole milled 3/8from the inside edge of the base and perfectly sized to work with self-centering drill bits. Oh and did I mention that on top of all these nifty design features the 90 and 45 angles are machined and inspected to Woodpeckers market-leading standards
