Hakushu 12 Year Old has the aromas of pear crushed leafy bracken and a subtle hint of citrus. On the palate you get subtle smokiness and sweet poached pears. It has a medium length finish with a little gingery spiciness. Hakushu literally means ‘white sand banks’. It’s named after the mineral deposits that can be found in the stream that feeds the distillery. The Hakushu Distillery stands amongst fresh streams and lush forests. It’s also known as the ‘Mountain Forest Distillery’. It was built with the idea of ‘coexistence in harmony with nature’. A bird sanctuary has also been set up in the locality to help preserve the natural environment and preserve the pristine water that goes into creating the whisky. This 12 year old single malt whisky has a crisp and vibrant taste. It can be enjoyed on neat on the rocks or with ice and soda water.
