The infamous flower bottle of Champagne almost didn’t exist. The original idea was formed in 1902 when the family approached Emile Galle a top glass designer and founding father of the Art Nouveau movement. He hand painted a handful of bottles but they were deemed impractical for production and put away. Sixty years later one of the bottles was discovered. In 1969 the first vintage of Belle Epoque 1964 was released to the public. Only made in the best vintages Belle Epoque always reflects the growing season but in the overriding style of Perrier Jouet. This is pure elegance. The pale Champagne is lifted and aromatic with white flower citrus white peach and poached pear. The palate is fresh accenting the ripe fruit with subtle honey tones and a layered finish accented by delicate creaminess. This is a great wine to start a party with and pairs well with seared scallops beurre blanc or roasted chicken breast and creamy soft cheeses like camembert and epoisses .
