Terra Cotta Rain Barrel The 50 Gallon Terra Cotta Rain barrel are a slightly smaller version of our 55-gallon Terra Cotta Barrels. Heavy Duty Screening keeps mosquitoes out. Our rain barrels are uniquely designed with plastic fittings that match the rate of expansion and contraction of barrel plastic from season to season to avoid leakage. These rainbarrels are repurposed from pre-used imported food barrels. There may be slight scratching or scuffs due to previous overseas transportation. Since our rain barrels are made of High-Density Polyethylene Plastic they can be left outdoors even in the winter months so there is no need to modify your downspouts in the Spring and Fall. Because these barrels were originally used to transport food there may be residual food product odor. The residual odor will dissipate after a few full barrel filling cycles. These barrels keep difficult to break down plastics from adding bulk to landfills and also contain and repurpose stormwater.
