They can also be used to replace your current automatic screwdriver whip for a more highly efficient fixed-mobile operation. The MFJ 1979 telescopic whips collapse to only 27 in. for easy packing and travel. Rigidly collared at the base and stronger than plated brass they are impervious to rust and corrosion. They stand up to the forces of nature and the rigors of portable and mobile operation where others might fail. The base of each whip features a standard 3/8 x 24 mounting stud for installation on a variety of mobile or fixed antenna mounts including tripods and mini-dipole mounts. The beauty of these antennas is that you can operate a full quarter wave on 6 10 12 15 17 and 20-meters WITHOUT a loading coil!
