This classic twist and turn carousel is excellent not only for developing motor skills such as eye and hand co-ordination but also great for bilateral co-ordination. As the child uses the upper part of their body to spin the lower large disk they are sitting on which is on top of a ball bearing they get leverage from using their hands which move around the stationary smaller disk or steering wheel in the centre. This has their body moving in the opposite direction to their hands.The better their co-ordination moving their hands around the steering wheel the faster they will go encouraging a child to persist in this action. This in turn provides brilliant vestibular input through the spinning action allowing the child to practice their balance and changes of position in space all the while having a great time on the whizzy dizzy!
