The first generation DW-5000 model with a heavy metal case and screw back is now equipped with advanced technology. It has a full metal case which is difficult for radio waves to penetrate and is not good for reception and a screw-back design which makes it more massive. While inheriting the DNA of the first generation model the new model pursues further toughness. The metal case and screw back are treated with diamond-like carbon DLC to enhance wear resistance. In addition the screw back is mirror-finished creating a sense of quality. The resin band is made of soft urethane for a comfortable fit and the original G-SHOCK design from 1983 has been further enhanced with advanced technology to create a model of even higher quality.
