The T402 is a license-free two-way radio from Motorola. Part of the Talkabout range the T402 is designed for use in small business premises and for family leisure activities. 22 Channels allow for sufficient communications between a small group of people with 11 of the channels being weather channels with an alert feature. A scanning channel can be programmed into the radio to ensure that no transmissions are missed. When selected the radio will consistently switch through channels on the lookout for activity when a transmission has been found the radio will stop and listen in until the message has been heard. A relatively small radio the T402 stands at just 7.54in height 2.26in width 1.37in depth whilst weighing just 0.43 pounds. Due to the compact size and lightweight this means that the T402 can be easily carried via one of the available carrying solutions. Although additional carry accessories can be purchased the T402 double pack is supplied as standard with 2 belt clips. Alongside both the radios and belt clips a Y charging adapter with micro-USB connectors and two NiMH rechargeable batteries which will last up to 8.5 hours when fully charged. There are many features that make the T402 stand out from other Talkabout radios including a built-in LED flashlight. A keypad lock ensures that accidental operation of the radio doesn’t occur should you be carrying the radio at your waist or in a pocket this means that you won’t go to talk with your radio and transmit to no one should the channel have changed. Something that can help to ensure that channels don’t become clogged is a time out timer when programmed this cuts off all transmissions at your chosen time length helping to keep conversations short and sweet.
